Abbie Schepps - Teacher
I started practicing Bikram Yoga in 2012 as a way to explore the limits of my physical body. In 2014, I moved to Reno and decided to become a member at a yoga studio. The classes challenged me both mentally and physically and I was so inspired by the people that surrounded me in every class. I fell in love with everything that yoga presented to me- awareness, mindfulness, and acceptance all became a part of my everyday life. When the opportunity presented to become a certified Yoga teacher, I knew that this was the next step of my journey. I completed my teacher training in Bali, Indonesia earlier this year where I dove deep into my practice and learned more about myself than I knew possible. I left Bali with an overwhelming desire to serve others through yoga and to make nonviolence, compassion and gratitude a part of my everyday life. After arriving back to the U.S., I immediately applied to volunteer with Urban Lotus Project as I had heard about the amazing things that ULP did in the community through several of my own experiences. I truly believe that this is exactly where I am supposed to be and am honored to be a part of such an incredible organization.
When I am not practicing or teaching yoga, you can find me working in Truckee, rock climbing, spending time outside, travelling, trying new restaurants, reading a book, or relaxing and meditating at home.
My Mantra: One thing we do know, life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. -Eckhart Tolle
Also: May all beings everywhere be happy and free and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and that freedom.
