"Yoga entered my life because I was searching for a bigger meaning for my life. Although I didnt know thats what I was looking for at the time, I had just heard that yoga is great way to relieve stress and really healthy for the body so I decided to give it a try! I was born with a terminal disease known as Cystic Fibrosis and I was noticing my health was starting to fail so I just decided to give yoga a try and instantly fell in love. In yoga I am not "sick" if there are poses that are out of my ability I am able to slowly progress towards them and I can truly quiet the mind for a brief moment and find peace in the breath. Yoga entered my life because I needed saving and it changed my life completely.
I became motivated to become involved with Urban Lotus Project because I know how much yoga has helped me deal with the hard things in my life and I feel that it is necessary to serve others. Yoga should be available to everyone and I am so humbled to be able to offer my knowledge to others. Urban Lotus Project serves those who truly deserve something like yoga because they are already dealing with so much that to volunteer my time to serve them is simply an honor.
When I am not in service to other organizations like Urban Lotus Project you can typically find me in a yoga studio, practicing yoga at home, studying yoga books or spending a fair amount of time administering my medications and focusing on my health. I also have three really awesome dogs who I spend a lot of time with because dogs are amazing."
My Mantra: "Fight to the finish. To me it simply means to never ever give up even if the task seems near impossible. Even if the world seems like it is falling apart there will always be the light at the end of the tunnel and you have to keep fighting for that peace."
