Bodean Chilton - ULP Teacher
My first encounter with Yoga was when I was 12. It was a Girl Scout activity and ever since I have found my way back to my mat on and off. I become serious with my practice a year ago. A dear friend and mentor of mine unexpectedly passed away and her passing effected me both on a personal level as well as in my career. I found my mat a few months after her passing and haven’t left since. I was motivated to work with an organization such as ULP at a Forensic DNA conference. In my career outside of yoga I am a Forensic DNA Analyst. I love my job and feel like in some small way my work helps to bring justice to the lives of victims. However I’ve always felt drawn to help in a more personal way. During one conference I listened to Ashley Spence speak as the keynote speaker. She spoke as a survivor of a sexual assault which was solved years later through backlog initiatives that are happening around the country. Her journey lead her to the mat and has now founded Wanderlust Austin TX. Her story touched my heart and made me realized how profound my work in the lab and on the mat can me. During my yoga teacher training Hannah Bias guest taught and spoke about her passion for bringing yoga to at risk youth in Reno. I knew ULP was the place I wanted to serve. Outside ULP I work as a Forensic DNA Analyst. I enjoy a simple life with my two dogs. I take in nature whenever I can and love to travel the world! I am trying to create a movement through my alter ego “the chubby yogi”. I believe that the means to a well fed soul is a well fed belly! The movement is to live full thick lives and take time to “grub, chub, and namaste”! My Mantra “I know two things for certain.... 1. that nothing is permanent. And 2. I don’t actually know anything at all” |
