Julie Jewell - ULP Teacher

"The first yoga classes I attended were at a community college as an awkward, self-conscious 16 year old. I immediately felt that I had found a home for my bendy body and comfort for my restless mind. In the beginning most of what I embraced was the physical, but slowly yoga’s ancient wisdom began to open my consciousness and my heart to the magic that IS yoga. At times my practice has taken a back seat to life’s events however I always come home to yoga. For the past 13 years of consistent practice I am been able to access peace of mind and loving perspective when life gets crazy.  In 2013 I committed to a 200 hour teacher training with CorePower Yoga.  My hope was to share what was so freely given to me with others.  This turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life!  I could not then imagine the gratitude and joy that fill me when I teach. I continue to look for new ways to expand my knowledge of all things yoga. I hope to remain teachable until the end.

Hannah’s passion and enthusiasm for Urban Lotus Project is contagious! I believe like she does, that everyone, regardless of ability to pay, should have access to yoga. Those with the most to gain from the practice are our youth. The opportunity to pass on the tools to help them cope with life’s challenges is truly a gift.

When I am not teaching yoga with Urban Lotus Project or one of the other studios in Reno, my passions are skiing (water or snow), hiking, pilates or hanging out with my sweet pups, Lola and Bernstein. In recent years daily meditation has become a huge part of keeping me sane and grounded."

My Mantra: I will breathe. I will think of solutions. I will not let worry control me.  I will not let life break me.  I will simply breathe. And it will be okay. Because I don’t quit!
