Shanai Belton - Teacher
About 10 years ago, one of my workout DVD's had a yoga sequence that I fell in love with and I started practicing yoga off and on in 2008. This path ultimately led me to yoga and my daily practice when I discovered Ashtanga yoga in 2015. From then on I’ve developed a six day a week Ashtanga yoga practice. I truly embraced how the practice of Ashtanga is more than just asana or poses, it's considered a lifestyle. I love that yoga offers so many health benefits inside and out; it’s not about achieving a certain pose or looking a certain way physically but becoming a better version of yourself.
I have been wanting to give more of myself to others and to share my compassion with those that need it the most. I like that the Urban Lotus Project reaches out to those that are dealing with difficult times in their life and I want to be a part of helping someone heal or to come out smiling because they have renewed faith.
When I am not practicing or teaching, you can find me spending time with family and friends, cooking, juicing, crafting, jewelry making, trying new restaurants, or spending a quiet morning or evening at home.
My Mantra: Learn to flow with life. Don’t stress or question what you should be doing right now. You are exactly where you need to be and you will reach your destiny. There are no mistakes about where you are or who you are.
