Susan Frankovich - Teacher
Yoga originally came into my life when I was about 21 years old. I had just graduated college and moved to Albuquerque from Santa Fe. I made a friend where I was working, and she took me to a kundalini class in this woman's home. It was in love at first OM, it was so powerful! I felt like I was simultaneously grounded and flying! I continued with the kundalini classes for a few years until my teacher stopped teaching. Some years later, I moved to NYC and started working with a dance company. The director of the company always used the Jivamukti recordings from David Life to warm up. I started to join her, and I felt the benefit of cross training the body. Eventually I got the recordings and started to practice on my own. Through time, I created my own yoga style warmup to begin my dance classes. After many years of working like that, my focus started to shift from dance to yoga. I was living in LA taking 5-6 classes a week, and I decided it was finally time to get certified in teaching yoga.
I knew ULP was looking for more teachers, and I overheard Hannah talking about an opportunity to teach a class partnered with Planned Parenthood. Planed Parenthood is an organization that has supported me from the time I was a teen and even through adulthood. I loved the thought of being able to serve not just one, but two organizations that I wholeheartedly believe in. I submitted my application that day.
I teach a lot of public yoga classes and a few dance classes, I facilitate a really amazing modality called PSYCH-K®, I am studying to be a yoga therapist, and I hang out with my dog, my man, my friends, and my family.
My Mantra: Don't forget to breathe.
